Ron Byrne, co-founder and Executive Director of Umbrella of the Capital District, has been honored by TIAA, a Fortune 100 financial services non-profit corporation.
In recognition of its founding 100 years ago, TIAA decided to honor 100 individuals who have made outstanding contributions to their communities through the non-profit organizations they work for. In a process that took several months, Mr. Byrne was selected for the award from over 4,000 candidates who had been nominated by TIAA members.
"I am deeply honored by my selection by TIAA as a Difference Maker. To make a difference one needs all the help one can get. I was very fortunate to have a lot of it. I share this recognition with a very large number of co-workers, friends, advisers, volunteers and professionals who worked tirelessly on behalf on behalf of Umbrella and those we serve. Our success would not have been possible without them!"
Mr. Byrne’s selection as a TIAA Difference Maker 100 recognizes his 23 years of service helping seniors age in place. The award includes recognition on the tiaadifferencemaker100.org website and a $10,000 contribution in his name to Umbrella.
